From the Stadium: Pennant is OURS

From the Stadium: Pennant is OURS
September 16, 2023

As some of you have heard, I was fortunate enough to have tickets to Thursday’s game at Koshien Stadium. Truth be told, we did not plan it ahead of time to be this way, it just worked out for us. Me and Sanjay (podcast co-host) wanted to take in a game together, and since he lives in far-away Hawaii, opportunities that come along must be taken. He told me about this planned trip back in March, so I worked my ticket-buying magic and got the Lawson Deck for September 14 against the Giants. It was perhaps the only game he would be able to fit into his schedule, so that’s the one I got.

Obviously, our crystal balls were working properly because as the Tigers put together this crazy 10-game win streak, the game we were set to attend had the Tigers sitting with a magic number of 1. Bring it on! I decided to go to the ballpark early for various reasons (one of which was the be interviewed by a Sankei Newspaper reporter), and soak in as much of the atmosphere as I could. On the whole, I got to hang out with a lot of people before the game, and then because we were on the Lawson Deck, it was a 16-person party once the game proper started.

Here is a video that will take you through much of the day…

You can also listen to our podcast to hear our thoughts about the game. I cannot conjure the words to write anything of significance right now. Enjoy the sights and sounds from the video above and the pictures below, instead.
