Games 16-18 vs Giants: Rain Prevented a True Sweep!

Games 16-18 vs Giants: Rain Prevented a True Sweep!
April 19, 2024

After the rather embarrassing opening series in Tokyo against these same Giants (25 straight innings without a run), the Tigers’ pride was on the line for this, the first home set of 2024 against their longtime rivals. They continued to struggle with run production, but the pitching trio of Shoki Murakami, Masashi Itoh, and Yuki Nishi shut the door (allowing two runs in 21 innings between the three) while the relievers were perfect in the remaining 7 innings. The only reason this was not a perfect 3-0 set is (arguably) because of inclement weather on Tuesday night. The game was tied after nine and was unable to be completed. Still, consider this series a huge victory! The Tigers have climbed back to .500 (for the second time this year)! Now it’s on to the first place (!) Chunichi Dragons over the weekend.
