Games 32-34 vs Baystars: Big Bats, Sweep, First Place!
May 14, 2023

After somehow scraping together a win against the Swallows on Thursday to avoid a sweep at home, the Tigers had a tougher task at hand: face the red-hot Yokohama DeNA Baystars and their ace pitcher Shota Imanaga (on Friday). They put on a show all weekend, though. Imanaga only lasted 4 innings, and the Tigers exploded for a total of 28 runs (in 24 innings), moving into first place in the process. And when the dust had settled, Teruaki Sato found himself atop the CL leaderboard in runs batted in, second in home runs, and Koji Chikamoto found himself firmly in second in on-base percentage. It was a great weekend. Let’s enjoy a day off and enjoy Dragon hunting from Tuesday!
