The Tigers cannot afford to lose or tie, anymore. Heading into this, their second-last game of the season, they needed a big win and big production from a lineup that was once again absent of Koji Chikamoto and Yusuke Ohyama. Who stepped up? Teruaki Sato did. His first at-bat sent a message to Carp, Dragons, and all pitchers who will face him the rest of the way: he can still hit the long ball! His second-inning home run set the tone and this one was never in doubt. Masashi Itoh collected his tenth win – first lefty rookie to do so since Yutaka Enatsu back in 1967 – and the relievers did their job as well. Now, we still need the Swallows to lose two of their remaining four, and we need to win on Tuesday, but the comeback feels real…
