Game 137 vs. Carp: Rookies Shine, Suarez Smokes
October 18, 2021

After losing by the long ball last night, Tigers’ pitchers Masashi Itoh and Robert Suarez kept the Carp off the board and under complete control. Meanwhile, Teruaki Sato picked up his first extra-base hit in forever, scored the team’s first run, and Takumu Nakano provided solid defense and chipped in with a hit and a walk. What to say of Suarez, though? He touched 163 km/h with his fastball again, and in a showdown between two potential future MLB players, got Seiya Suzuki for the final out of the game. He also holds the team import record for single-season saves with 42. The club record of 46 (set by Kyuji Fujikawa in 2007) is still within reach!

Tomorrow the real test begins, as the Tigers host the Swallows for two must-win showdowns.
