Game 67 vs. Baystars: Austin’s Power

Game 67 vs. Baystars: Austin’s Power
June 25, 2021

Not much going on in this one. The first batter of the game reached base on a Hanshin error, and came home on a two-out home run by Tyler Austin. The Tigers did not get anyone into scoring position until the last three innings of the game. None of those chances turned into runs, and so Yuki Nishi’s splendid effort goes unrewarded and he waits another week for a shot at career win #100.

Yankees Legend Tyler Austin. Though we lost; as a Yankee fan I’m not as upset as it was Austin who cracked Nishi. Still remember him and Aaron Judge going back to back home runs at their first at bat in Yankee Stadium. Austin is doomed in Yokohama, we need to find a way to bring him here to Hanshin. He’s got too much potential. I’m doubtful Mel Rojas is gonna work out for us.

I think Rojas has a decent chance still. He’s batted .400 on the farm since the demotion. He’ll come around. Still it wouldn’t hurt to pick up Austin as he is significantly younger than Sands, who turns 34 later this season.
