After downing the Swallows 8-0 on Friday night, then sitting around for two days (plus the day off Monday) because of a Covid explosion in the Yakult camp, the Tigers were raring to go on Tuesday. Donning arguably the ugliest uniforms they have worn in ages, they laid a (goose) egg, completely unable to push a run across home despite 7 chances to do so. But they more than made up for it the rest of the way. Led by the outstanding pitching of Yuki Nishi (8 IP 0 R) and Masashi Itoh (CGSO), plus a dominant inning from Kyle Keller (struck out the side on 14 pitches), the Tigers went ahead and blanked the Giants the rest of the way, and have now equalled their “best record” of the season, at just 4 games below .500.
